I edit the brightness/contrast 

I then choose selective colour 

From this I can change every colour within the photograph, this allows me to darken certain parts of the photograph or lighten them, or slightly change the colours. I make sure that I never make any drastic changes, as this would make it look un-natural.

This is the out come of editing it, it has more shadows and becomes more interesting as you can see different textures on the petals.
